Thick-tailed gecko
Scientific Name:
Underwoodisaurus (Nephrurus) milii
Origin:
Southern Australia
Size:
80mm (SVL), 8-13 cm
Active:
nocturnal
Habitat:
terrestrial, range of habitats from wet coastal heathlands and sclerophyll forests to arid scrubs, favors rocky areas 10- 20 gal aquarium, paper towel or rocky substrate, driftwood, shelter, basking light or under tank heat, screen cover (loose), shallow water dish
Lighting:
incandescent for heat
Foods:
in wild:   insects & spiders
in captivity:    crickets (calcium/vitamin dusted), mealworms
Temperament:
aggressive if disturbed, raises on all fours and "barks" or "coughs"
