- Scientific Name:
- Tiliqua scincoides intermedia
- Origin:
- Northern Australia
- Size:
- 12-15 inches
- Age:
- >20 years
- Active:
- diurnal
- Habitat:
- terrestrial, range of habitats from coastal heath, forests. and woodlands, to montane forests
- Captive Care:
- 40 gal aquarium (minimum), paper towel, newsprint, mulch, or Carefresh as substrate (keep dry), shelter, basking light or under tank heat, screen cover (loose), shallow water dish
- Lighting:
- full spectrum fluorescent & incandescent for heat
- Foods:
- in wild: insects, snails, carrion, & wildflowers, native fruits & berries
in captivity: crickets (calcium/vitamin dusted), mealworms, fruits, blossoms, & other vegetation
- Temperament:
- mellow when housed individually, fight savagely if housed together
- Notes:
- live-bearing; short limbs; babies prone to metabolic bone disease (Ca deficiency); very aggressive to conspecifics
